300.000 in Europe currently affected by PF
There is a huge need to raise the awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is a group of serious lung diseases that affect the respiratory system. The most common type of PF is Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, accounting for 200.000 patients in Europe.
Each year more than 50.000 Europeans lose their life to Pulmonary Fibrosis, which is more than some common types of cancer, such as leukaemia.
EU-IPFF works in various ways to raise awareness of Pulmonary Fibrosis. We have conducted awareness campaigns the previous two years and currently plan the third campaing for PF awareness month in September. Furthermore we interact with specialists, other organisations and directly with people with pulmonary fibrosis to make a difference for people affected by PF.
As part of the PF campaign 2020 Francoise Enjalran, who lost her husband to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibroisis, told her story - watch it here.
